Thai employer framed and threatened the Burmese migrant workers

Ko Phyo (19) a Burmese used to live and worked in a farm in 37kilo village, Mae Sot since he was 10years old. Last year, he got married with Ma Kyi Pyar and had a month old baby boy. Since he hadn’t been in Burma for more than 9 years, he would like to visit to Burma to show his family to his parents and relatives. Thus, he asked his employer for the permission on November 17, 2010.

 On November 18, 2010, Phi Nuam let Ko Phyo and his family getting into his car and shot three fires up in the air. Then, he took them to his house and threatened them sending to the police citing that Ko Phyo had stolen 20,000baht. Ko Phyo by not knowing what’s going on offered him 5 tickle gold necklace and beg him to spare his family. Phi Nuam forced him to look for more money from some where outside by holding his family, the brother and his wife’s parents hostages. By the help of a fellow worker, he managed to pay another 5 tickle gold necklace to Phi Nuam, who finally arranged a specail transportation for them to get on a boat that would go to Myawady in Burma.

With the advice of a responsible resident in Myawady, Ko Phyo reported to PVA to take action on November 21, 2010. PVA had opened the case at Photepra police for justice and further legal action now.
