On April 8, 2010, a man named U Aung Lwin holding a temporary passport No. MWD-001210 was accidentally hit by a car and dead on the spot while he was riding a tri-show motorbike taxi in Mae Sot. The body had to remain at the Mae Sot hospital for not having someone to claim. After a month, the police transferred the body to the municipal to bury it, according to LLC. It also requested PVA to look for his family and relatives to notify.
PVA, which understood the Thai law that only allowed the family to claim for the compensation within 6 months, had to try its best to look for the family or relatives to claim for the death compensation within 6 months. PVA’s first attempt to request the authorities from Burma to look for them had no respond.
However, by the help of a responsible citicen in Burma, PVA was able to contact with the victim’s wife named Ma Kan Yon on June 15, 2010. PVA joining force with LLC could manage to claim 200,000baht for Ma Kan Yon for her grievance successfully.
