On June 18, 2010, a daughter of Daw Ohn Tin, named Ma Mar Mar Cho told PVA that her mother was arrested by the police as a human trafficker selling a young lady. She told PVA that the claim was untrue but she was framed, and asked for help.

PVA had learnt that Ma Than Than Htwe, a resident of no.3 quarter Maepa in Mae Sot, had reported to the police citing her daughter named Ma Aye Aye Aung (13) was sold to the sex-trade by Daw Ohn Tin. The Thai women’s affairs agency help-reported to the police citing Ma Aye Aye Aung being raped, and Daw Ohn Tin was arrested in this case.
Ma Aye Aye Aung, who was under the care and concern of Thai women’s affairs agency, was allowed to visit outside for 3 days during the Burmese New Year Festival. According to Thai women’s affairs, during these 3 days visit, Ma Aye Aye Aung was forced to enter the sex-trade by her neighbor Daw Ohn Tin. The police’s medical report also indicated that she had involved in sexual intercourse as claimed by Thai women’s affairs agency. Thus, Daw Ohn Tin was arrested at 5pm on June 17, 2010.
After the thorough investigations like interviewing with the Thai women’s affairs agency, the police the victim’s mother and the witnesses by PVA and the village authorities, PVA finally concluded that the accusation was not proven but untrue. Therefore, the case was dropped, and Daw Ohn Tin was detained a week for her illegal status.
