Chop with a sword for 55 baht loan

On February 15, 2012, PVA was reported that Ah Thein (35) was chopped with a sword by Win Oo (50), who was drunk at that time, causing severe cuts in the head and ear.

Ah Thein said, “I and Win Oo work and live together under the same employer. I had borrowed 55 baht from Win Oo. He was disappointed with my failure to pay back his money. He came and destroyed my tent. While I was talking with a friend named Ah Soe in this regard, Win Oo came back and chopped me with a sword. He was drunk at that time.”

PVA ordered both parties to come to the office on February 16. It found out that Win Oo had been unable to control his anger when he was drunk. The official of PVA told him that it’s too much to chop a fellow citizen for such amount of money. The official also ordered Win Oo to pay for Ah Thein’s medical expense and both parties to sign an agreement in this regard.
