Two Burmese women about to be sold

On August 5, 2010, a responsible citizen reported to PVA by phone that he saw two women crying when they were about to be sold. PVA rushed to the scene and saved them.

Two sisters named Ma Myo Myo Aye (24) and Ma Hnin Hnin Yu (21) were seducted to come to Mae Sot looking for job by a human trafficker named Daw Thidar, and she handed them over to a man named Kyar Gyi in Myawaddy, Burma.

Kyar Gyi arranged them to stay at a room behind a teashop in Mae Sot while looking for a customer to sell them at 6,000baht for each person. While he was negotiating with a woman to sell them, the poor women cried for help to the responsible citizen. And, he immediately called PVA for help.

According to two women, they agreed to work in Mae Sot making some money, which they needed for their mother’s eye surgery, without their parent’s knowledge.

Currently, PVA took care of them while seeking for further legal action against the human trafficking.
