The deceased problem

Ma Papa the decased

On October 14, 2010m Ma Papa (19) had passed away by jaundice disease at the student clinic in Maetaw. Her brother in law, a Muslim man named Min Naing contacted a Mae Sot funeral service for the burial. Meantime, his wife was on her way back to Burma to bring her parents, according to him. He insisted to pay for the cost under the management of the funeral service, and signed the agreement by handing over the dead-body.

The Mae Sot funeral service, which was formed by PVA and other social groups had placed the deceased at the Tawya monastery in Mae Sot. However, Min Naing never came back. Thus, the funeral service had been unable to decide how long it should wait for the family members, what if they didn’t show up and how many Buddhist Monks would be required for the funeral service. Thus, PVA had to launch a search mission for Min Naing who later was found hiding in a farm in Maetawlal village. PVA and the islamic leaders had to question him why he did such thing.

According to his confession, Min Naing, a married man had illegally married with Ma Papa. After her death, he didn’t know what to do, and that’s the reason he left the body with the funeral service. They finally educated him not to do so again by letting him sign a promisory note.
