The Opening:
Nowadays, more and more of the people of Burma are leaving the country to seek the jobs abroad. Especially, the people have been flooding into neighboring Thailand finding jobs to support their families. Throughout the history of Burma, this is the first time for the people, who abandon their pride and dignity of their national identity, to go abroad looking for the jobs due to the deteriorations of social, economy and politics in Burma. Such precarious dispositions require the social organizations to solve their problems they are facing everyday, and to encourage them maintaining their social values such as pride, dignity, character, culture, social norms and traits. With an aim to fulfill these needs, the “People Volunteers’ Association” PVA, which is formed by earnest, honest and well respected individuals of their social background, has determined to help sorting out these problems facing the people effectively.
Background:
Due to the deterioration of all aspects in Burma, the people of Burma have been flooding into Thailand to look for jobs daily. Unfortunately, in the unfamiliar territory, they have to face the mounting challenges such as intimidation, social injustice and unfair treatments at the working places and elsewhere daily.
Moreover, the manipulations, corruptions, mistreatments and criminal activities by the morally corrupt individuals from Burma against their own people also have post another obstacle for the decent people of Burma, who want to live on with their own pride and dignity, otherwise loosing respect by the native Thai people.
The prevailing circumstances demand the intervention of PVA for their safety-net promoting their national pride, good character and conscience, mutual respects with the Thai people for the better future.
Against all the discriminations such as race, sex, gender and religion, PVA is a volunteer organization to help for everyone regardless. Also, with understanding of the obstacles and hardships of the people, PVA always finds the root-cause of the challenges and seeks the solutions to help solve them accordingly.
The journey step by step:
1. The starting point:
The people with their dedication and determination standing up for the people of Burma in needs have formed an organization called People’s Volunteers Group in 2004 and 2005 to act upon their duty protecting and to providing the safety-net for those in need.
2. The building up:
In June 2006 with the emergence of more volunteers joining in the group, the volunteers group had decided to develop the Burma Volunteers Association up until 2008.
3. The continuation of building:
In January 2009 the situations had demanded the Volunteers to establish a larger and more inclusive association named PVA to improve their duty to perform the needs of the people. Their commitment and experience also had favored PVA to be more successful association for the longer term forward.
The objective:
The Volunteers Association will;
1. promote the wellbeing of the people,
2. encourage the opinion, view and knowledge of the people,
3. defend and promote the pride, principle, discipline and the dignity of the people, and
4. endorse the morality and conscience among the people for their united effort to create peace and prosperous society among them.
To carry on organizing the wellbeing of the people:
1. If the association has founded out that the people, who have helplessness to solve their difficulties and social injustice, and it turns out to be necessary to intervene, the association will righteously stand by them and will help them in effect.
2. The association will be accessible at anytime for those who are in need for help.
3. Our help would not discriminate based on race, sex, gender or religion.
4. We will cooperate with the regional authority, organizations, the native people in order to avoid the undesirable conflict and confrontation, and to protect the peace and stability of our people.
5. In this effort, righteousness, legality, and sympathy are necessary on our part.
6. Our association must be respected and responsive for both the people of Burma and the regional authority and concern organizations in good manner.
7. While helping the people in need, we approach with the following steps such as:
A. friendly keeping in touch with the people (keeping in touch)
B. organizing the people to understand what we are doing for them (organizing)
C. bringing the people together with us in the honest way forward for our collective effort (bringing together).
The attitude of educating:
The association will educate the people focusing on –
1. living on with good personality and discipline;
2. well understanding of the pros and cons of their daily life in a pragmatic way forward;
3. helping hands with their fellow citizens for their better social environment;
4. respecting of the regulations, culture and citizenry responsibility; and,
5. promoting of love, generosity and sympathy among each others.
Public assistance and aide:
The association will provide:
1. education
2. health
3. organization
4. communication
5. workers’ affairs
6. women and children
7. finance and fund raising
8. public affairs
9. legal
10. external communication and other necessary social supports for those in urgent need.
Development of the association:
All the members of the association must;
1. organize the people and organizations to gain support and more members,
2. acknowledge to those whether member or non-member, who can successfully carry out the duty given by the association as a member,
3. accept the assistance of any citizen in good faith that will support the association’s task better,
4. recognize those members, who selflessly sacrifice and risk their personal interests in order to carry out their tasks given by the association, and
5. accept and recognize the assists and aides by individuals, international organizations and non-governmental organizations, who understand the size and scope of the hardships the people of Burma have to endure daily, to do our obligation more efficiently.
To develop the forming of more social organizations:
Our efforts will bring;
1. the formations of more social organizations that will help assist the needs of the people working elsewhere around the country,
2. self-reliance and confident among the people to build the better society as proud citizens of Burma, and
3. solid foundations of the better and more effective social organizations to help assist the society via the collective efforts of the proud citizens of Burma.
Conclusion:
With these aims and objectives, the association will proudly continue our mission to earn the respect of the people of Burma. Ultimately, the association is resolutely determined to concentrate on its objective assisting the safety-net, peace and stability, and the development of the people of Burma until the mission accomplished.
